About This Place

Loch Leven's Larder is a wonderfully distinctive destination that masterfully blends the charm of a cafe, deli, farm shop, gift shop, and restaurant—all nestled in the scenic setting of Channel Farm, Kinross. This multi-faceted venue offers much more than just a place to eat; it invites visitors to immerse themselves in the rich local flavours, artisanal products, and welcoming atmosphere that perfectly capture the essence of Scottish countryside hospitality.

Step inside and you’ll find an impressive farm shop brimming with locally sourced produce and unique culinary treasures that make for perfect gifts or indulgent shopping treats. Longtime visitors, like Jenny Wilson, have been enchanted by the “beautiful” shop that is “the perfect shop to buy presents,” while others, such as Chaz Carstairs, have found themselves lost among the shelves of condiments and local delicacies, eager to take a piece of the experience home.

The heart of Loch Leven’s Larder is, of course, its food offering—delicious, fresh, and rooted in Scottish tradition with a modern twist. Whether you’re craving a classic Full Scottish Breakfast sizzling with prime back bacon, Donald Russell pork sausages, and the ever-popular black pudding, or prefer lighter options like Smoked Haddock & Leek Cheesecake or Heritage Tomato Salad with whipped brie, the menu invites exploration. Their Eggs Benedict is wonderfully creamy, while the Fish Finger Sandwich and Chicken Burger bring a comforting, familiar satisfaction to any mealtime. Sweet treats shine just as brightly with house favourites like Chocolate Truffle Cake and flaky Fruit Scones served alongside a perfect cream tea.

The dining spaces of Loch Leven's Larder are crafted to enhance the experience. Customers praise the “gorgeous, well-decorated” main restaurant that buzzes with energy but remains welcoming, and the tranquil greenhouse seating with sunny outdoor benches overlooks loch-side vistas that soothe and inspire. As Will Walker notes, the venue is a “great destination for all the family,” blending the joy of exploration on nearby footpaths and play areas with the warmth of a relaxed place to refuel and reconnect.

Customer service consistently shines as a highlight, with genuine moments like Katopping’s praise for the attentive care received in the greenhouse area, adding a personal touch that makes each visit memorable. Even during busy periods, like the 20-30 minute waits during peak times, patrons find the experience well worth it—and the introduction of a vibrating pager system means you can browse the shop hassle-free while awaiting your table, just as Ruthie Mitchell enjoyed after her invigorating 20km circuit.

Whether you're popping in for a quick coffee, a leisurely brunch, or a day out with the family, Loch Leven’s Larder delivers a uniquely Scottish experience. It’s a place rich in local heritage, flavour, and community spirit—an inviting escape where every bite and every moment feels like a celebration of Kinross’s natural beauty and culinary craftsmanship.

What a fabulous place to have a walk and a cake. My friend and I did the full 20km ish cicuit then treated ourselves to some goodies in the restaurant. We asked for a table, and were given a little vibrating pager that would let us know when our table was ready. We browsed the shop for perhaps 10 minutes before it went off which was a more than acceptable wait considering how good the service was and not mention the food - it was gorgeous. Our experience with the staff was professional and polite from start to finish. As mentioned before the food was brilliant. Chips, cheese scone and slice of chocolate jaffa cake - i would happily have died and gone to heaven with this as my last meal, it was delicious!

Having lived in the area for ten years I cannot believe it's taken me so long to discover Loch Leven's Larder, met up with my family here after a big dog walk and honestly so impressed. The shop itself is beautiful, we spend hours looking around buying lots of lovely bits (it's the perfect shop to buy presents!). The main restaurant is gorgeous, really well decorated and clearly very popular, I will be honest the lunch time food wasn't really to my taste but everything came out quickly, was really hot and seemed really great quality, since reading more reviews it seems their cafe does toasties so will have to try this next time... they've also got a really unique selection of drinks which was lovely to try and a bit different from the usual "coke please". After a walk in the grounds, we popped back into the cafe for coffee and cake, both of which were absolutely lovely. Overall really really impressed and will definitely be back for more cake and a wander around the shop!

I love places like these! I could spend hours in the shop with all the local produce and interesting items. I ended up buying a couple of condiments. The place was busy. The lady that served me at the checkout was nice enough but not particularly friendly. We then grabbed food. Unfortunately it was a 20-30 min wait in the main restaurant so we didn’t bother go there. Instead we sat in at the cafe. We had a toasted sandwich and a sausage roll which were both nice and satisfying. The sausage roll was juicy with a flakey pastry. Overall the is a great spot with a brilliant location. I’d like to come back to try the main restaurant.

Great destination for all the family. Free parking, great views over the loch, footpaths, play area, outdoor benches, Saturday morning parkrun and even sometimes cricket to watch. After you are done with your activity, there is a choice between the restaurant, indoor counter or hut to get food and drinks. We had brunch in the restaurant then bought a few presents and food treats from the well selected items in the shop. A great place when in need of present inspiration and for a general day out in a scenic location.

Staff in the café need instructions on customer service. Just to be acknowledged when waiting would be good. Luckily the coffee was excellent. Great choice of food in the food hall.
